Oral Sedation

Our oral sedation option is a prescribed medication that is taken orally. In some cases, it can be taken an hour before treatment or upon arrival at our office. With this sedation, it may be necessary for a friend or family member to provide transportation home.

Nitrous Oxide

Sometimes called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a gaseous medication inhaled through a nasal mask. Although not much laughing is involved, patients will often feel drowsy and relaxed during their treatment with us. With this sedation, patients will remain conscious, relaxed, and responsive throughout their care. The effects will wear off quickly, allowing you to drive yourself home.

IV Sedation

Administered intravenously, this type of sedation puts patients into a sleeplike state, though they will remain awake during their procedure. Many patients who receive IV sedation may forget parts of their care or the entirety of their treatment. IV sedation is an ideal solution for patients with more severe anxiety and those needing complex treatments as it creates a relaxing, comfortable experience for our patients. With some lasting effects, patients will need someone to drive them home after their visit.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia is our strongest sedation option. For patients that choose general anesthesia, they will receive a mix of IV sedation and Nitrous Oxide to put patients into a deep sleep for their treatment. While general anesthesia isn’t for everyone, it’s a great option for those that are a candidate for it and have more severe anxiety, or those needing more complex treatments. With some lasting effects, patients will need someone to drive them home after their visit.
